    In “The 7 Principles of Public Speaking: Proven Methods from a PR Professional”, Rich Zeoli not only gives detailed content on the who, what, where, when and why of public speaking, but also includes techniques you can immediately use on HOW to be an effective public speaker.

    Rich offers both high-tech and low-tech strategies that work. One that I tried immediately after I finished reading his book was the 3×5 card technique for organizing thoughts into a story. You probably can’t get more low-tech than writing on 3×5 cards and manually shuffling them into a logical sequence, but it worked for me and helped me avoid writer’s block and re-writes.

    I have seen this guy speak on many occassions and he is a truly dynamic speaker who engages the audience with humor, passion, and creativity. Regardless of your current level of speaking experience, you would be wise to follow this program. I have used his principles myself as he led a communications training program for our small company and the results were awesome. He helped us with large group presentation skills and we did some pitching drills to help us sharpen our message.

    Frankly, it is reassuring that the practices what he preaches.

    Many books are written about public speaking, yet none have offered as clear a message as Richard Zeoli’s. There is not a day that goes by that you do not speak publicly, and this book addresses the keys to effective communication for people in every situation. The section on “You are on the Moon; the audience is at Mission Control” is worth the cost of the book by itself.
