Do you have a favourite book? The 2011 Coventry Inspiration Book Awards voting is now open, with 12 books in 12 categories, six for children and six for adults. The bottom two books in each category with the least votes will be eliminated "Big Brother" style until the eventual winner is announced in February. With the last contest topping a magnificent 1.5 million hits to the website, this year’s target is to reach the next million! To vote visit www.myvotescoventry.org
Anybody, wherever they live and whatever their age, can vote and give their opinions on the short-listed books.

The website has something for everyone, with polls to find the favourite books for every age-group. Above all the site is about enjoying books, and the shortlisted books are all quite simply great reads, designed to "inspire" reading for life! Every book in the polls for young people has information about other books by that author and other similar books. The adult polls have lists of other recommended reads in that genre too.
Also taking part are twelve Coventry Primary and twelve Secondary schools, who have been preparing teams for a lively competition called Book Bouts! Each of the schools is randomly allocated one of the shortlisted books, and they are given 5 minutes to "sell" their books using whatever means they choose. This gives them a chance to show off their creativity and develop a whole range of skills in public speaking, ICT skills, use of PowerPoint and presentational skills, creative writing, display skills and drama. At the end of the presentations each school has a meeting to decide their votes, and allocates them in true Eurovision style! Points are entered on the electronic scoreboard with mounting excitement until we arrive at the winner!
A special prize, judged by an independent panel is also presented to the school with the best presentation
