Guide to motivational speaker

Motivational speakers give a sense of hope, belief, energy and empowerment to the audience. Being a motivational speaker allows the speaker to present idea and opportunity. The audience then takes the idea and tools and works towards their own success. Nowadays many teams, schools and corporations hire motivational speakers to carry inspirational messages to impressionable groups.

The primary purpose of a motivational speaker is applying positive ideas to everyday situations. This process requires a compelling story and effective visuals to represent blockades in the user’s way. Every motivational speaker should get comfortable in front of audiences before setting out on a long tour.

Young professionals who are interested in motivational speaking can take public speaking courses and accept temporary positions that require extensive speaking skills.

Motivational speakers realize several benefits outside of healthy appearance fees and flexible schedules. A motivational speaker has the opportunity to help thousands of people each year by crafting inspirational messages to individual circumstances at workshops.

]]>

Motivational speakers are categorized based on audiences, presentation styles and subject material. Some motivational speakers offer themselves to audiences of all types while other speakers focus on schools, corporate events and sports teams. The stereotypical style of a motivational speaker is a half-day or day workshop where attendees can practice motivational techniques in groups. This style has given way to shorter meetings, speeches and multi-session events that accommodate busy professionals. Successful motivational speakers can expand their influence by using different media to reach diverse audiences.

Knowing how to speak well is essential for a good motivational speaker. If your audience cannot understand you, they won’t be motivated-they’ll be too busy trying to figure out what exactly you’re talking about. It’s important to have good diction and the ability to express your ideas in a way your audience can comprehend.

A motivational speaker should learn, love and research every topic for which you’re giving a motivational speech. Thoroughly knowing and understanding a topic will enhance your credibility with your audience.

A motivational speaker should have a good and upbeat attitude about life. Your positive attitude will rub off on your audience and get them excited about your presentation. But if you have a negative attitude about the material you’re presenting, it will show, and your audience will not be impressed.

Having a good stage presence is an important part of being a motivational speaker. It involves making sure that you’re specifically dressed for each presentation depending on your topic and audience. It also entails getting your audience excited, and showing them through movement and gestures that you’re excited.

Being able to motivate and guide people towards believing in you and your ideas — in other words, having strong persuasion skills — is a huge part of being a good motivational speaker.

My life ambition is to travel the US or world while pursuing a meaningful career. My talents lie in working with people, writing, extremely positive minded, good business sense, motivational speaking, etc. I have previously attempted home base business and ended up overextending myself. I have a knack for seeing the “big picture” of business more than specific details.

Foster Care Motivational Speaker Sings I love my Foster Mom and Dad Written by Derek Clark

I wrote this song as a dedication to all foster and adoptive parents. Thank you for working hard to restore love in a child or youth. I sincerely appreciate and love mine. I am so fortunate to have had foster parents who never gave up on me…even when I was not adoptable. My foster parents are very special to me, although being the hell-raiser I was, it wasn’t always obvious. I do consider them my Mom and Dad. They have earned it. They said they loved me but I continually tested the limits of their unconditional love.

bank sort code 951961

No doubt it was tested to the extreme. They had to put up with so much more than the average parents. I am so grateful for their love and patience. I would not be who I am today without their dedication, love and trusting that they would never give up on me. Trust was a big issue with me, If my own mother and father could throw me away, how could I trust anyone else…but I eventually let down my walls and let their love in. They loved and believed in me. They provided me with a home, family, hope and love. I treated them awful at times and yet, they never changed the locks on the front door. They worked with me even when I had so much baggage and behavioral problems growing up. Simply put, they believed in my greatness and they never gave up on me! Let us strive to give hope to others.Derek Clark is an inspiring motivational speaker, trainer and the author of the critically acclaimed I Will Never Give Up book series and Never Limit Your Life. How Motivational Speeches Can Create A Difference In Your Life

Motivational speaking is targeted to make the audience feel better. Sometimes, people need a little push towards the right direction. A motivation speech can just be the right thing to stimulate people. This is basically the essence of motivation speaking.

bank sort code 439752

The primary aim should be to make the audience feel more inspired, motivated and work towards pursuing their targets. Using proper intellect and wit is the main aspects of such a speech.

The subject of motivational speaking is quite complex and requires challenging the thoughts of the audience. Properly delivered speeches have the ultimate power to unleash your determination and relieve your senses. Three of the best speech tips are enlisted:

Understand Audience Goals
To deliver an extraordinarily motivating speech, it’s crucial to understand the audience’s goals and visions. This even applies to company owners seeking to inspire the workforce and induce greater productivity. Never assume that that the aim of a worker is necessarily the same as yours. They may be interested in a good job but their basic aim is to provide for their family. It is here that your motivational speech should help demonstrate that you understand and respect their aims. You should make them more inspired so as to benefit both the employee as well as the organization where they work.

]]>

Recite Inspiring Tales
Another major aspect of a motivational speech is to include some small and effective stories that relate the tales of people who have overcome obstacles to succeed in life. These should be recited in a manner such that the audience can relate to the message. For instance, if you’re speaking to students then the stories should be of great legends and philosophers who failed miserably in their earlier life to later become successful and renowned in their fields.

Or even if you’re delivering a speech for motivating a small organization, it should comprise of success stories of small entrepreneurs who alter become world leaders. These stories should inspire the listeners and make them feel that even they can go out and achieve something they’ve always desired.

Using Power and Energy
Many motivational speakers use the natural power like yoga and exercising to relieve stress and tension from the listener. These small activities help the audience to reflect deep within and to realize their potential. In fact strong gestures and a powerful body language can have a great impact on your speech and the intention to get your message well into the audience.

Motivation speakers can also walk down the audience and make eye contact so as to create a connection with the listener’s mind.

Motivation speaking helps you get inspired and boosts your confidence to achieve something. It makes you strong and determined to reach your goal and make the most out of life.

This sums up the three excellent methods to become a great motivation speaker. However, every speaker has his own personal style. One should keep learning in the quest and with every session try and absorb the intricate facts that motivate the audience and keep them going in life.

5 Tips to Become a Motivational Speaker

5 Tips to Become a Motivational Speaker

Do you see yourself as a good motivator? Do you like to lift people’s spirits? Do you have a knack for inspiring people by just giving really great advice? If you answered yes to most of these questions, you might consider a career in motivational speaking.

There is something venerable about being a motivational speaker. It signifies mastery over adversity.

bank sort code 126046

Being a motivational speaker you should possess a certain amount of wisdom and understanding in the process of overcoming hindrances to any goal. Most of all, a motivational speaker gives people the intangible drive to move forward and initiate change in their lives.

If you want to become a motivational speaker you first need to know that it is a  challenging job and there are certain guidelines to go by in order to become a successful motivational speaker.

Assess your experience, education, and ability.

To be a credible and convincing motivational speaker you have to be able to back it up with your own personal experience. You must ask yourself these questions, “Have I experienced great hardship?” “Have I risen above adversity?” or “Did I have an ‘AHA!’ experience that I can effectively share with other people.”

Generally, it is important that you are a battle-tested life warrior; someone who had been down but got back up and succeeded in life. You must see yourself as a successful person. This will give you every right to motivate and preach. After all, you wouldn’t listen to a hobo’s advice, would you?

]]>

Next, you must examine your educational credentials. Although not necessary and not as compelling as experience, you should at least have some kind of college education. If you don’t have any, you should be constantly trying improve yourself by getting some additional education and training such as speaking seminars and one on one coaching.

Measure your ability in speaking and motivating. Do you really have the aptitude for motivational speaking? If you believe that you still need further improvement, research your topic and practice in front of the mirror and small crowds.

Find a mentor

This is very important. You have to find someone you can emulate; someone you can draw inspiration from.

It is not necessary to exactly get in contact with this person. Having his/her book or some tapes is sufficient enough but it is always better if you can confer with your mentor. Just be sure that your chosen mentor is an exceptional motivational speaker as well. Aim high, don’t settle for mediocrity.

Learn the Psychology of Motivation

You may have the gift, the experience, and the education but sometimes it might not be enough. You must distinctly comprehend the psychology behind motivation. Knowing it well can give you a much clearer understanding on how to make your audience relate to a certain experience or anecdote you may share.

A definite understanding of the science will help you handle different types of crowds and themes. It can help you handle rebuttals from the audience so it can be beneficial to arm yourself with a bit of psychology.

The importance of being seen as an EXPERT

A good motivational speaker must have an aura of superiority. You must be confident in your message and convey, with conviction, that what you say is the truth.

In this industry, confidence and image is everything. You must dress like a professional. No one will believe you if you lack confidence in your assertions. As a speaker, you are analogous to a performer. You’re the star, put on a great show!

Promote yourself. You’re a business person as well

Motivational speaking is also a lucrative and aggressive business. You have to recognize that you must market and sell yourself effectively to be a successful motivational speaker. What you are selling here is your performance and if you have already put on some worthy gigs you should get endorsements from credible people. They can help take you to the next level.

Additionally, write and publish books. It is a great way to build a reputation and credibility. It’s a great marketing move.

If you are just starting, you must be willing to work for free to get your name out. Volunteer in some clubs, try Toastmasters and other local groups. Start slowly and have patience as you learn the ropes.

Jobs For Motivational Speakers – How to Land Jobs Speaking in Public

However, getting to speak at events as a motivational speaker is very challenging as it requires good credentials, excellent reputation, and a prominent public image. To put if briefly, a speaker should market and self-promote effectively if he or she wants to get booked.

Certainly, your ability to speak publicly needs to be well developed and a speaker should have to get on stage and showcase his or her talents in giving a speech. On stage, it is the speaker’s main goal to inform the audience and blow them away with your performance. Having excellent presentation skills helps you maintain credibility.

If you are just beginning your venture in motivational speaking, the primary objective is to build a professional image that will appeal to your target audience. Speakers should know how to make themselves a commodity by offering the public solutions to their biggest problems.

bank sort code 050986

Picking a niche will make speakers’ jobs easier and it is the best way to start a motivational speaking career. It can help speakers focus and eventually, they will become experts in the field. Expertise is everything in the speaking business. Once perceived as an expert, event organizers will just start lining up.

]]>

Motivational speakers should know who their trying to impress. They must recognize who are the immediate buyers of their services. Organizers, event planners, and association heads are some of the individuals that speakers should target. If speakers are able impress these people, they will be contacted to become guests in group events.

Writing books will also help build credibility. In spare time, speakers should use their knowledge to make informative materials like videos, CD’s or books. They are a great way to promote yourself and you can usually get a few speaking engagements form interested readers.

Testimonials can help speakers sell their services. Testimonials influence the market greatly especially if they come from prominent and famous people. Speakers can ask for testimonials after every speaking event and encourage people to give reviews. You can put this in writing or just say it at the end of your speech. It is important that you only put truthful testimonials from real people.

Marketing efforts should also be done through the Internet as it is one of the most helpful promotional vehicle nowadays. Websites are not only an advertising unit; they can also be used as a platform to sell speaker products. You can earn passive income from it and with websites and products, you can earn money even when you aren’t giving speeches.

Essentially, to get speaking jobs continuously, speakers should become publicly known especially within the niche. Speaking careers should be treated like businesses and speakers are like salespersons trying to sell their topics, speeches, and products.

Question by Pablo Martinez: How do I start my own foundation that will feed the needful at holidays?
I live in Canada, and want to know how to set up my own foundation/company that will offer motivational speaking, feed less fortunate families at holiday time, offer disaster volunteers, and provide mentoring. How can I create this company from the vision in my mind?

Jeff,

I would suggest talking with some existing organizations. Are you thinking about a worldwide organization? Just North America? Just Canada?

Other than that, I can only say that my heart aches for the homeless, too. I am trying to figure out what I can do for them in the Chicago area.

Also, I do some public/motivational speaking. So if I can be of any assistance in that way, please email me:

Here’s the catch. They need to be online speakers, speaking to just a camera (not an audience). Just like Ray William Johnson or Perez Hilton. But they need to be people who are giving a persuasive or motivational speech. Any help is greatly appreciated!
Thanks Golden, but he’s speaking to an audience. It can’t be a TED speaker. I need someone who is just speaking to a camera. No people involved.
