I prefer INSPIRING to INSPIRATIONAL, TRANSFORMING to TRANSFORMATIONAL. Inspiring speeches make me want to change, whereas transforming speeches make me change. Inspiring speeches make me think differently, transforming speeches make me act differently. Being inspired may be good enough in many cases; you just feel better, like you had a massage or had fun with a good friend. But being transformed is a deep-seated change. One can say to someone, I WAS SO INSPIRED BY YOUR TALK THAT I WAS TRANSFORMED…you get the idea. Transformation comes from inspiration. What motivates people? That is a huge question which libraries of books have addressed, and is always at the forefront of humanity. You’ll have to do your homework. I hope your talk goes well.

I begin to exercise – this is inspirational. I am inspired to get up and do what I can do, that implies what is already inside of me and i am doing that to the max. I am not doing more than I already can, but I am inspired to get up and do it.Inspirational is generally brought about by another person doing similiar activities to inspire you to do the same.

I become a Vegetarian – this is transformational because I am totally transforming my life from one thing to a whole different thing. From a meat eatter to a non-meat eatter. My protein used to come from meat products now it comes from Beans, vegetables and Tofu.
Transformational usually is brought about by a life – changing event, maybe a Heart Attack or other ” Near – Death” Experience.
