How do I get over stage fright and how can I improve my acting on my own?

Question by Haily: How do I get over stage fright and how can I improve my acting on my own?
I really want to become a famous actress. Yeah, unrealistic, but I at least want to give it a shot. I`m not stage fright, but if it happens during an audition or something, how do I deal with it? Also, I can`t join a theater program for a few months, so what can I do to improve my acting now? I don`t usually have someone to help me or do it with me and I don`t have a script, so I`m lost and I really want to practice.

Practice breathing techniques that can help stabilize the increase of energy (excitement, nervousness) in your body. Part of this practice is going to as many auditions as possible. (Go to the ones you don’t care about getting, too!) While at the audition – take three to five deep breaths to help circulate the energy flow in your body. Acquire a “I’m here for the fun of it” attitude and go for it.
How to improve your acting on your own? Buy a digital camera and tape yourself acting. Watch and experiment – taping yourself – over and over again. Go to the library and get some material for scripts.

Q&A: How can I break my stage fright?

Question by : How can I break my stage fright?
Ok so here’s some quick details. I sing and act really good but when I get in front of people I freeze. Ultimately it even cost me a film. Im afraid to sing in front of people. Even my own Mom and Grandma. It’s bad. I broke my fear of heights so it’s possible to break my stage fright isn’t it???
@Kristinia I dont think im afraid i’ll mess up I think Im afraid of lecture, and what if they don’t like me.

Best answer:

Answer by Kristinia
well, I’m an actor, and if your scared because you don’t want to mess up, than just blow over it if you do. no one in the audience will know. Otherwise, imagine everyone in clown suits!

There is no easy way…..time and experience work but not much else….you could try to look at someone like your Mother or Father while your singing maybe that will work for you….looking at a love one helps some people…..that bit about picturing people in their under ware doesn’t work, I know, I’ve tried it. Just keep singing and maybe eventually your stage fright will less !!!!!!!!!! Good luck !!!!!!!

It was just named that so that more people would hear it. The band that made it is called Stage Fright here are the lyrics: Looking for a new kind of lover Not a girl made of rubber Someone who can make me feel how I wanna feel And tell me all the things that I wanna hear And make me lose control And make me go insane I want a girl that does cocaine Cocaine, cocaine Screwed up is how she needs to be With no clue of reality I just want you to make me feel how I wanna feel And tell me all the things that I wanna hear And make me lose control And make me go insane I want a girl that does cocaine Cocaine And now I’m washed up, I’ve had my fun… and I feel like the mud It’s that girl who can make me feel how I wanna feel And tell me all the things that I wanna hear And make me lose control And make me go insane You’re that girl who does cocaine She left me for a snowman named bob

Question by thebostonredhead: What percentage of professional actors laugh due to stage fright?
I’ve always wondered how much stage fright causes a professional actor to get a case of the giggles.

Best answer:

Answer by oncameratalent
Symptoms of stage fright include:

* A general feeling of anxiety before, or during, the beginning of a speech or presentation.
* Cold hands, sweating hands, or shaky hands.
* Dry mouth.
* Fast pulse.
* Nausea.
* Rapid Breathing
* Shaky knees.
* Tight throat.
* Trembling lips.

Laughing usually occurs when they flub their lines or stumble, etc. and is not a symptom of stage fright.

Q&A: How to memorize lines and get rid of stage fright?

Question by SurferDude: How to memorize lines and get rid of stage fright?
Okay, I have less than a week to memorize my lines for a play/skit in front of the whole school. What are some fast and effective ways to memorize my lines?

Also, the play/skit is comedic, so I have to try to speak with a foreign Asian accent. Any ideas on how to do that

Lastly, how could I get over stage fright?

Best answer:

Answer by unknown
to memorize the lines just keep saying them over and over…
practice in front of a full length mirror and maybe do your lines for your friends and family to get their opinion…
then do them outside in your front yard…
if you can do it there you can do it in front of the other people…
